Orange Outdoor Entertaining Oasis

When Dave and Jackie first moved into their home in Orange, NSW, they already had the foundations of a beautiful backyard – a woodfired pizza oven, BBQ, generous dining area, and a relaxed lounge space that set the scene for entertaining. The challenge, however, was that the area remained completely exposed.

With no cover overhead, the area was at the mercy of Orange’s changing seasons. Summers were too harsh, winters too cold, and in between, the weather was simply unpredictable. That’s when Dave and Jackie reached out to our Spanline Orange & Bathurst team.

The brief was clear: create a solution that would protect the space without compromising its open, inviting feel and most importantly, make it usable all year round.

The solution was a custom-designed Skylux® Opening Roof, carefully integrated to complement the home and enhance the existing layout. Positioned on a south-east facing aspect, the design allows the Whites to make the most of natural light while maintaining full control over shade, airflow, and protection from the elements.

With adjustable louvres, the Skylux® Roof responds effortlessly to changing weather conditions – opening to let in sunlight and fresh air on cooler days, or closing to provide shelter and insulation when the temperature drops or rain sets in. This level of climate control ensures the space remains comfortable year-round, no matter what Orange’s weather has in store.

The space flows effortlessly from one zone to the next, from firing up the pizza oven with friends, to long lunches around the dining table, or slow mornings spent in the lounge with a coffee in hand. What was once an exposed and underutilised area has become a central hub for everyday living and entertaining.

As owner, Jackie puts it:
