Glass and Screened Enclosures: Unlock Your Space's Potential

Glass sunrooms and screened enclosures are popular amongst homeowners who want to bring the outdoors inside, whilst extending the liveable areas of their house. Fully enclosed with glass or screens, enclosed rooms let in natural light and offer beautiful views of the surroundings.

Many people love glass-enclosed patios for creating an indoor-outdoor haven that lets them enjoy the best of both worlds. Use a glass or screen room for all sorts of activities, from entertaining guests to relaxing with a good book.

The benefits of designing an indoor-outdoor haven with a glass room are endless. A glass or screen room can:

  • Enhance the overall aesthetic of the home and create a beautiful focal point
  • Offer a peaceful retreat to relax and unwind away from the rest of the home
  • Extend your living space and increase the usability of your property
  • Allow you to enjoy the views of your garden or outside area without suffering the elements
  • Glass and screen rooms are highly adaptable, with a range of options for glass types, frame and screen materials, and decor to choose from

Considerations for Designing a Glass or Screen Room

Designing a glass or screen room is an exciting and important process, and there are several key considerations to keep in mind.

  1. Location and orientation: Aim for a great view of the surrounding landscape, while also providing privacy and protection from the elements.
  2. Type of glass and frame materials: Keep your home comfortable and lower your cooling costs. Spanline’s windows and walling and insulated roofing range are designed just for that.
  3. Climate control and ventilation:  Screened enclosures allow for natural light and airflow while keeping insects out. Outdoor rooms may need additional heating and cooling systems to ensure they can be used comfortably year-round. Using insulated roof and wall panels can help maintain the right climate in your room. Good ventilation is also important to help prevent the room from becoming too stuffy or humid.
  4. Furniture and decor: When designing your glass room, consider your furniture, lighting, and electrical needs. Surrounding yourself with creative ideas and imaginative concepts can help you achieve your desired outcome. It gets very cold in Blayney and even snows in the winter months. Mr & Mrs Thompson wanted a living area they could use regardless of the elements. Their new Spanline Glassroom changed the way they thought about winter. Now that they have a room they can enjoy throughout the year, they are excited to invite their neighbours over to spend time together whatever the weather.

Consider Construction and Maintenance Over Time

Designing a glass or screen room can be an exciting process, but it’s important to also consider practical factors before starting construction:

  • Building regulations and council permits: Be sure that your patio enclosure complies with all local building codes and regulations. Your local Spanline builder holds a valid builder’s license, trade certificates and memberships with industry associations. For every project, we organise everything from onsite inspections, custom designs, plans and council approvals^.
  • Cost Factors: The price can vary widely depending on a range of factors such as size, materials, and features. It’s important to set a budget and stick to it. Spanline can help you do this while ensuring that the final design meets your family’s needs and preferences.
  • Maintenance and Cleaning: Glass can be prone to streaking and spotting, so it’s important to clean it regularly. Be sure to put your glass enclosure in a position where you can easily clean and maintain it.

We have used Spanline for two renovations recently and couldn't be happier with the process, from Seb Godfrey coming out to measure and quote, to material selection and the build process.Where possible they sought to re-use existing materials and structures, offering different materials and options to really try and meet our budget and still get an amazing result. The workmanship is amazing and especially in the instance of our back deck it just linked the house and our yard together in a way our previous mod-wood deck (which was only two years old and had collapsed) simply could not.I cannot recommend Spanline highly enough. The initial quote may seem expensive but I can't reiterate the work quality, the dedication of the staff and the end product is absolutely worth it and I wish I had done it in the first place. I'm looking forward to working with them again in future for other renovations I'm planning.

From the initial contact with Chris and Mel, all dealings with Spanline people were positive and friendly. The team organised all necessities from Council approval, through the engineer drawing up the plans via an onsite visit, to the delivery and construction of the carport.I initially thought the timeframe was excessive but they moved my construction forward when there was a cancellation. Rain slowed things down but the carport was erected within 3 workable days (allowing for the curing of the concrete).Neighbours have remarked positively on the look of the carport and that it has enhanced the front of the house.Once the carport was erected, a local plumber completed the work by connecting the carport roofing to the required overflow pipes. In summary, a great piece of work, organised by a very friendly and professional organisation.
